This fascinating book is a
collection of transcribed correspondence between Kate Duncan Smith and
John Harrington regarding the genealogy of the Harrington family.
It provides a fascinating insight to the period, and the style of
writing, word usage and phraseology is a treat to the reader. Kate
Duncan Smith was an early member and long-time officer of the Daughters
of the American Revolution. Because of her dedication to the
National and Alabama Societies of the DAR, the Alabama Society
established the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, located in the foothills
of the Appalachian Mountains in northeast Alabama. The current
annual enrollment of 1100 students includes kindergarten, elementary,
middle, and high school students. John Harrington's epistle
contains much information on the Revolutionary War years. |
